Ingredients needed for Lachha Paratha:

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour ( some extra flour needed for dusting)
  • 1 cup water
  • salt 
  • Ghee or clarified butter
  • 1/2 tbsp sugar


Method for preparing Lachha Paratha :

  • Sieve flour in a large bowl and add ghee,sugar and salt in it.
  • Mix the flour with the ingredients added ,now pour water in the middle of the flour and start mixing water in flour.
  • Keep pouring water until smooth dough get prepared.
  • Once flour is kneaded cover it and keep away for 20-30 mins .
  • Now make lemon sized balls from the dough (with this quantity arount 6 balls will be prepared)
  • Now take one dough ball and gently rub with the dry flour,Roll the ball to make a circular Bread or Roti.
  • Apply some ghee and dust little flour on the top of the bread/ Roti prepared.
  • Now very carefully fold the roti/bread like a fan till you reach the end,now hold both the ends and press the dough from the centre to stretch the bread/roti.
  • Again roll the dough to form bread/roti.
  • Heat the tawa/pan on medium flame,place the paratha on it,pour 1 tbsp ghee/oil/butter on the top of it,once cooked flip to another side and cook till it turns golden brown.
  • Serve Lachha Paratha hot with curd and enjoy.
