How to make Jackfruit / Kathal curry
Raw jackfruit / Kathal is one of my favorite dish , which I normally cook after every 15 days.The only problem in Jackfruit / Kathal is its stickiness when its come to cut the Jackfruit / Kathal. But the solution for this problem is there right in your kitchen,put some oil in your hand while cutting the Jackfruit /Kathal. This recipe can be prepared in many ways,here I am sharing you the recipe where Kathal / Jackfruit are fried first and then mixed in the curry. Here goes the recipe of Jackfruit / Kathal curry.
INGREDIENTS
Raw Jackfruit / Kathal : 250 gm
Onions : 2
Garlic cloves : 6-8
Tomato : 1 (finely chopped )
Green chilli : 1-2
Turmeric powder : 1/2 tbsp
Coriander powder : 1 tbsp
Red chilli powder : 1 tbsp
Oil : to fry Kathal / Jackfruit
Oil : 2 tbsp
water as required
METHOD
1.Wash the Jackfruit / Kathal and after all water is drained cut them using oil into pieces,if there are thick seeds then discard them
2. In a pan heat the oil and fry your Jackfruit / Kathal till they turned slightly brown.
3. In a blender mix onions ,garlic and green chillies and make a smooth paste.
4. In a pan add 2 tbsp oil and mix onion garlic green chilli paste and fry till it becomes dark brown because if you dont fry the paste well then your curry will not taste good.
5.Once paste is fried then add finely chopped tomatoes and mix it well.
6. After tomato is cooked then add turmeric powder, coriander powder,red chilli powder and salt .
7. Mix everything very nicely and then add water so that Jackfruit / Kathal can be cooked.
8.Cover the pan so that Jackfruit / Kathal can be cooked.
9. After 5-7 mins open the lid and check if Jackfruit / Kathal is cooked or not.Cook for few more mins if it hasn't cooked.
10 . Your Kathal / Jackfruit Curry is ready to serve.Serve it with hot chapatis/Roti.
Suggestion : Don't compromise with oil because this recipe requires oil.You can add coriander too while serving.Adjust water according to your taste.
