Butter Tea ,Tibetan tea
Last month I went to McLeod ganj and there are lots of memories of that place in my heart.from place to people ,market to restaurants all were amazing,one thing that was most memorable was the Butter tea or Tibetan tea I had there in McLeod ganj. This Tea tastes totally different from milk tea,black tea ,green tea or any other tea.At first when I took the first sip I felt is it really a tea because it taste little salty.Actually in Tibet this Tea is common and the way they prepared this butter tea is very long process,but not to worry as I have got the easiest way to prepare this butter tea or Tibetan tea directly from a Tibetan friend of mine from McLeod ganj.
INGREDIENTS for Butter tea or Tibetan tea
- 2 cups of water
- Plain black tea -1tbsp or 1 teabag ( you can use Lipton tea bags or loose tea leaves )
- a pinch of salt 1/5 tbsp approx
- 1 tbsp of butter (preferably salted but unsalted can be used too )
- 1/4 cup of milk
You also need a blender for making Butter tea / Tibetan tea.
RECIPE for Butter tea or Tibetan tea
- Boil two cups of water and add tea bag or loose tea leaves in the water and let it boil for couple of minutes on low flame.
- Add a pinch of salt.
- Take the tea bag out from the boiling water or if using loose tea leaves strain them.
- Now add 1/4 cup of milk and let i boil.
- Turn of the gas stove.
- Now in a blender blend your tea for 2-3 minutes.
- Your Butter tea / Tibetan tea is ready .Serve the tea right away as it tastes better when its hot.

Hint : If you like the strong taste of tea you can add or adjust the teabag or loose tea quantity according to your taste.
